Spaghetti and Meatballs

My mom grew up in an Italian neighborhood on Long Island, so even though we lived in a small town in Wisconsin in the land of Germans and Scandanavians, we had our share of Italian-American dinners at home.  I’ve been making some version of this for years, because it’s also my husband’s favorite dinner.  I’d never made meatballs with anything but ground beef before, though, and this recipe (Barefoot Contessa Family Style, pp. 103-104) calls for a mixture of ground beef, ground veal, and ground pork.  It’s darned tasty, and it was easy to make in the early afternoon and reheat for dinner.
