Croque Monsieur

The Baked Ham inspired these leftovers, and this poetry.  This recipe (from Barefoot in Paris) requires more effort than your average ham sandwich, but it is well worth it.  It might become a lunch standard at our house on a lazy post-holiday day at home.  We’ve had versions of this, and its sister sandwich, the Croque Madame, at our favorite French bistros, but this was the first time I attempted it at home.  So, so good.
