As long as I had the candy thermometer out from making the homemade tortilla chips earlier this week, I thought I might as well try my hand at boiling hot sugar. This burn victim is getting right back on that fiery horse.
The method (from Family Style) was really easy, but they turned out pretty sticky and gooey (in other words, delicious).
The stickiness is just something to prepare yourself for if you want to serve them to guests (for hot chocolate, or in s’mores).
For a novice candy maker, though, they were really easy, and the ingredients aren’t exotic or hard to find. If only I had someone to scrub hardened sugar syrup off of my mixing bowl…
